Video Business Card: All About LCD Business Card

Video Business Cards

A Video Business Card is the most impressive business card that separates you from your competition

Even in the age of Facebook, YouTube and selfies, one business tool more or less stayed unaffected by technology advancements- business cards. Business Cards have always been the first introduction of your business to the other party. Now, more than ever, people put all possible information on the cards, from the required name, title, address and phone, to a cell phone, fax, Skype name, URL, email(s), social media links, QR codes, or other contact info.

People who see the importance of business cards realize they must differentiate their cards in order to stand out from the crowd. As a result, there are businesses that create plastic cards, metal cards, see-through cards, heavy/thick paper cards (with or without colored edge) and many others.

What is a Video Business Card?

Falling pricing in the microelectronic field created a new opportunity and upgraded printed business cards with videos and sound. A Video Business Card incorporates an LCD and a speaker embedded into a standard sized business card format. The front cover folds out and reveals a 2.4” LCD screen, perfect for showcasing a promotional video.

How Video Business Card works?

A Video Business Card has several components:

Display 2.4" screen / 320 x 240 resolution
Memory 128 Mb (Default). Up to 4 Gb.
Board PCB Board
Port Micro-USB
Speaker Output: 2W
Battery Output: 500 mAh
Cover CMYK printed cover 3.5" x 2" x 0.25"
Automatic on/off functionality when opened or closed with a magnetic switch.

All the above components are assembled into the size of a regular business card (3.5” x 2”), to provide an awesome video marketing experience.

Upon opening the card’s cover, the video is triggered by a magnet disconnecting the switch. The video playback loops until the card is closed. The card battery holds power for 60-75 minutes of playback. The typical length of the video is 30 – 60 seconds, though the card’s memory component is upgradable from the default 128 Mb to 4 Gb maximum, allowing longer playback.

A Video Business Card is essentially a USB drive with a screen and a speaker. The content on the card is updatable. Each card comes with a USB cable that connects the card to a computer. After connecting the USB cable to the Micro USB port on the card and the USB port on the computer, the card shows up as a new drive, allowing the user to upload or download files as needed.

Video Business Card - Video Format Explained

One of the most frequent questions is: Can I upload a new video to my Video Business Card?

The small, 2.4” video cards come in two different configurations: single format and multiformat.

Single format

In order to bring the price as low as possible, a PCB board with low decoder overhead is used, capable of playback of only AMV video files. The highly compressed files are a good fit for the 1 7/8” x 1 3/8” screen. There is, however, no widely available software able to convert videos to AMV files. We offer such conversion at no charge to our clients.

Like all other Video Brochures and Video Business Cards, multiformat Video Business Card plays typical video files like MP4, AVI, FLV, MPEG, MOV, and others. Because these cards require an upgraded PCB board, the cards are, on average, $3.00 more expensive per piece. Uploading a new video is as easy as copying files to a USB drive.

What to choose?

In most cases, our clients chose Single Format Cards with playback of AMV files. We converte the videos at no charge for our clients and uploaded the videos for free during the production. Because the cards are handed to potential clients, the cards do not require video update and customization typical with Video Cards and Video Brochures.

Video Business Card Design

Please download the Video Business Card template here. This PDF file is editable in Illustrator (preferred) and Photoshop. If you decide to create your design in Photoshop, please deliver the resulting file layered, with the template on one layer, and your design on the other (or in a layer group).
For a low fee, we are available to design the cards for you. If you decide to use our design services, please submit your existing marketing material, business card design (if available), logo in vector format, any images you may need on the card, and a copy. Please note that the card has four pages, so there is more space available than on a traditional card.

Video File Preparation

Because the cards are equipped with an LCD screen of the aspect ratio of 4:3, most video files must be adjusted for this screen. Be sure to consider this for your video production.
We would also advise avoiding any small text. The screen size is 320 x 240 pixels thus any small text in the video will be difficult to read.
Deliver your files for upload in the format of MP4 or AVI (preferred) in the 4:3 aspect ratio at a resolution of at least 640 x 480 pixels.
